A digital pen that lets you work in VR and AR? The Logitech MX Ink offers a solution for more creative work in virtual environments.

Mixed reality, a combination of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), is a difficult medium to implement. With the Meta Quest series and the Apple Vision Pro, among others, it remains difficult to break through the niche. The Logitech MX Ink Pen offers creative professionals an exciting new interaction.

Does anyone remember the incredibly overpriced Logitech VR Ink Pilot Edition? 900 euros for a VR stylus was a bit too high. Five years later, the MX Ink is available at a significantly lower price ($129). Logitech wants the pen to create the feeling of virtually holding a pencil or brush. Much more intuitive than the classic VR controllers that come with such glasses (or, for lack thereof, from Apple).

Thanks to 6dof tracking, the pen is suitable for both 2D and 3D creations in mixed reality. The pen weighs 29 grams, has haptic feedback and a pressure-sensitive button for sketching or editing models.

The Logitech MX Ink has a battery life of seven hours and charges via a USB-C port. You can also buy the pen with a docking station for $169. A large, low-friction mat (MX Mat) designed specifically for the MX Ink costs $59.

Logitech is opening up a new market here after gaining experience with the very expensive VR Ink Pilot Edition. Competitor Wacom wanted to conquer this market five years ago with a special pen in combination with the Magic Leap. Due to disappointing sales, the project was put on hold.

The Logitech MX Ink is now available in the US. It is currently unclear whether the VR stylus will also come to Europe.
