BYD announced that its Fang Cheng Bao brand signed a cooperation agreement with Huawei in Shenzhen. The two Shenzhen-based companies decided to focus on in-depth joint research and development in the field of intelligent driving for the BYD Fang Cheng Bao brand.

The upcoming Fang Cheng Bao Leopard 8 will be BYD’s first car equipped with Huawei’s smart driving solution. BYD announced that together they will aim to create the world’s first off-road focused smart driving solution. Leopard 8 will be released with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 3.0 system.

Huawei announced the Qiankun ADS 3.0 system in April this year. This new version is a comprehensive upgrade of Huawei ADS 2.0 and an evolution in intelligent mapless driving, collision avoidance and parking in all scenarios.

Road and image recognition in ADS 3.0 has been significantly improved with additional training data and real-world testing. The system allows the driver to go anywhere in the parking lot and the vehicle parks itself. It had previously received the new flagship Luxeed S7 system. Both companies aim to develop the world’s first dedicated intelligent terrain control solution, which will be installed on other Fang Cheng Bao models in the future.
