No matter how useful this application is, the ‘Transportation Card’ application does not allow us to leave our transportation card at home because it cannot be used to access the subway or bus with our mobile phone. Fortunately, the Madrid Regional Transport Consortium has another app with which we can do this.
We are talking about ‘Virtual Transportation Card’, an application where we can carry the transportation card on our mobile phone and verify the journeys by bringing the mobile phone closer to the turnstile or validator, and the advantages it brings. ‘Virtual Transportation Card’ in testing phase has been around for a while, but Android users can try the beta version on their devices.
The application we are talking about is available for free on Google Play and all we need is a smartphone with NFC Android 7.0 operating system or above to be able to replace the physical transport card. Of course, Google Wallet must be installed in order to save the virtual transportation card on the mobile phone.
It is important to remember that this is a pilot program; Therefore, if you use the application during this trial period, we will have accepted the terms of participation in the pilot test. In general, the operation of the application seems to be quite simple. So, if we want to buy Metrobús for 10 trips, we will pay 6.10 euros, and we do not need to pay any fee for the card (the fee for the physical card is 2.50 euros).
