Sharp is launching two ePaper screens in Belgium. The series consists of a 13-inch and a 25-inch model. The new ePaper displays are designed for applications where information needs to be updated regularly, such as displaying data sheets or other visual information. The screens look like a poster but can be digitally customized.
The 13-inch version (33.8 cm) has a resolution of 1,600 x 1,200 pixels. The 25-inch model (64.3 inches) offers space for 3,200 x 1,600 pixels. These dimensions were not chosen by chance: the smaller screen was intended to imitate an A4 poster, while the larger model is approximately the size of an A3 poster. The two USB-C ports allow you to charge and adjust content on the screen.
The screen is flicker-free to mimic the feel of a sheet of paper as closely as possible and colors can also be displayed on the screen. The ePaper ads are similar to paper posters, but can be customized digitally. Sharp joins the trend of declaring blue light the archenemy and emphasizes its absence in the announcement.
The manufacturer further emphasizes that its screens are significantly more energy efficient than the average digital signage screen. As little electricity as possible is used. The screens use ambient light to display the content.
You only need to connect the screens to the cable to adjust the content or when the battery is empty. This is intended to make ePaper displays an attractive solution for displaying current content with few cables and low power consumption.
The screens are available starting today. The 13-inch version costs 999 euros, the 25-inch model costs 1,550 euros. These prices are exclusive of VAT.
