Peer-to-peer networks like BitTorrent need competent applications to reach their full potential. Today we welcome qBittorrent 5, a new version of what we believe is one of the best clients out there, especially for Windows.
And qBittorrent is a development open source without the extra junk adware-based code that other more reputable clients include. Totally freeit has versions for the main platforms (Windows, Linux and macOS), a simple interface, but with all the necessary and efficient execution for the main purpose of BitTorrent networks: sharing large files.
qBittorrent 5, news
Although this is a larger version, the new features are limited. And the Series 4 has come a long way and the software (latest version 4.6.7) has been tremendously polished after so many years on the market.
We see new features incorporated into the interfaceincluding the ability to delete trackers directly through the menu widget tracking filter and a new torrent re-advertising column. Subcategories now automatically inherit settings from their parent category, simplifying the management process.
Web UI improvements focus on increasing responsiveness and adding features such as a dark theme and better mobile compatibility. Web API now supports SSL for torrents and includes new endpoints that extend its functionality.
qBittorrent 5 introduces the ability to create .torrent files of size larger fragments to reduce their number and improve its distribution in the peer network. Users get the option to separate unwanted files into a separate folder, which helps manage downloads more efficiently.
Specifically by platform, say on Windows the client now supports dark mode and can be configured to work with system settings. On macOS, improvements include sandbox support and an updated display of the dock icon. Linux users benefit from better integration with systemd for power management and support for localized man pages.
The release deploys the usual bug fixes and updates the underlying technology of the softwareremoving support for Qt5 and 32-bit Windows to make a full transition to Qt 6.5 and C++20, which is in line with current technology standards.
You can see all the changes in the release notes available on the project’s GitHub page and download the app for all its variants on its website.
