Google Lens now also searches for information based on a video

Google is rolling out a new AI feature that allows you to ask a question based on a video. This and other new AI updates are only available in English.

Google introduces new AI search options. For example, you can now ask your question in Google Lens based on a video you created. Ask (in English) what you want to know and Google will do the research for you. You also have the option of using your voice to ask a question about a photo you have taken. Google is also improving its Circle to Search for online shopping, giving you even more information about the product you’re looking for.

Film what you are looking for

Are you looking for something that happens in real time for you? Then you can now easily look this up by making a short video and asking Google what it sees. To do this, open Lens in your Google app, hold down the shutter button, and say out loud what you want to know more about. Google shows the example of a video of swimming fish on its blog and asks the question: “Why do they swim together?” Google will then give you a detailed answer.

This feature is available globally in the Google app (Android and iOS) for Search Labs users enrolled in AI Overviews and more. It only supports English searches.

Ask your question

In addition, Google also offers the option to ask a question with your voice when you take a photo of an object. To do this, point your camera at the subject, hold down the shutter button again and ask what you want to know. This voice input for Lens is now available in the Google app for Android and iOS, also in English only. In addition to photos and videos, the media list also includes audio. With the latest update to Circle to Search, you can look up songs instantly without leaving the app.

Finally, Google is also improving Lens for searching for specific products. Previously, if you found a nice backpack online, Google Lens could help you see visually similar products from other sellers. Now it gets even more extensive with a results page with reviews, pricing information and where to buy it.
