The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) announced that the launch of the Venus Orbiter Mission (VOM) spacecraft to study the atmosphere of Venus is planned on March 29, 2028.
It will take a total of 112 days for the probe to reach the second planet from the Sun. It is expected to reach its goal on July 19, 2028. The mission’s main objectives include studying the composition of the planet’s atmosphere, its surface, and potential volcanic or seismic activity.
The spacecraft will carry an array of advanced scientific instruments, including synthetic aperture radar, infrared and ultraviolet cameras, and sensors to study Venus’s ionosphere. These instruments will help scientists unlock the secrets of Venus’ dense, carbon dioxide-rich atmosphere and explore the possibility of active volcanoes on the planet’s surface.
