President of France, Emmanuel Macron, He criticized, without naming it, the United States, noting that there cannot be countries that call for a ceasefire in the Middle East while at the same time selling weapons to Israel.

“If we ask for a ceasefire (in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon), then it is logical not to give weapons to Israel. I believe that those who supply them cannot ask for a ceasefire every day, as we do, and at the same time supply weapons,” Macron said this Saturday during the closing of the 19th summit of the International Organization of Francophonie (OIF). .in Paris.

In an interview with France Inter, The French President has already spoken out in favor of stopping the supply of weapons to Israel that could be used to attack the Gaza Strip, following the example of France.

At his press conference, Macron recalled that US President Joe Biden had already supported a text at the UN in favor of a ceasefire in the Middle East.

The French president said he “regrets” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s choice to invade Lebanon overland to fight Hezbollah militias and recalled France’s solidarity with the Jewish state.

“We stand in solidarity with the security of Israel, and I say this two days before October 7. We don’t forget. I announce that I will accept the families of the hostages (from Hamas),” he said.

The 19th summit also adopted a resolution in support of Lebanon, supported by nearly 50 heads of state and government, most of them from Africa.

Lebanon, thanks to its cultural ties under French administration, is a full member of the International Organization of Francophonie.
