Several city and municipal websites in Belgium were hit by a cyberattack from a pro-Russian group.
According to a report by VRT NWS, a pro-Russian group has targeted cities and towns in Belgium. The group carries out a DDoS attack that brings down many websites, including those in the province of Limburg and East Flanders. In addition, the Brussels and Liège websites are also at risk. Some websites are now online again, others are not yet accessible.
Cyber attack
A pro-Russian group has targeted the websites of cities and towns in Belgium. The Russian collective is known as “NoName” and is attempting to make the site inaccessible by sending massive internet traffic to the site and overloading it. This is about one thing Distributed denial of serviceAttack (DDoS), which means that a specific service is no longer available.
Affected are the websites of the province of Limburg and East Flanders as well as the website of the Chamber of Deputies, the Walloon government and the city of Antwerp. Certain websites are currently back online, others are still down.
