Windows 11, just like Windows 10, will have smaller icons in the taskbar. The option is expected to launch in November or December 2024.

Last week, Microsoft released a major annual update (Windows 11 24H2) of Windows 11 with numerous new features. Of course, there is still room for improvement with Windows 11, especially after the problems that arose with the new 24H2 update. According to Windows insiders the Beta channel a new version is already ready. You can use a checkbox to display the icons in the taskbar smaller. The option was already available in Windows 10 but was removed for no apparent reason.

Back from absence

You’ll soon be able to customize your taskbar in Windows 11 to your liking. You have the option to always, never, or only show the smaller icons when the taskbar is full. The latter setting is currently not working properly, PCWorld knows. The option is particularly useful if you want to free up extra screen space for other, more important things.

Earlier this year, an unannounced update caused the taskbar to stutter, freeze, and even disappear. Luckily, Microsoft quickly identified the problem and you can visit their support page. Microsoft will most likely release the latest version in November or December. It is unknown whether Europe will receive the update.
