The Google Docs feature has been around for years an exceptionally practical resource for many userswhich require the usual set of office tools and which additionally take advantage of their universal availability (if you have an Internet connection, of course) and integration with Google Drive. It’s true that when talking about Google’s products and services for the general public, it’s not usually the first thing to be mentioned, but every day it’s weirder to find a person who doesn’t use them.

It is also very common to use them to create small documents, even to take notes, but the truth is that their capacity does not end there. On the contrary, and following its interface, which is in line with Google’s design paradigm, which strives for a simple, clean and very functional design, we are talking about a tool that offers everything you need to work with complex documentsvery long and that include multiple content types.

The problem is that as the size of documents grows, Content navigation is becoming more and more complex of them to the point that we may spend more time looking for what we want to consult than we will need once we find it. Mind you, this is not a problem that is limited to Google Docs alone, it’s a problem that actually affects any application designed to work with large documents.

To make it easier, the search engine people had a very interesting idea, and that’s it It’s now possible to “organize” Google Docs content using customizable tabs. This feature has already begun to roll out among users (the image above this paragraph is from a new document on my personal account), although it may take a few more days to reach all accounts in the world, since its reach is global and applies to paid and free accounts.

Unlike other organizational systems that are based more strictly on a previously defined document structure, this feature it allows us to customize both the parts of the document they point to, as well as the text and emoticons which can accompany it for an even faster and more effective visual identification of its content. This feature, useful for personal documents, gains even more interest if we talk about collaborative documents, in which case several people can work on different parts.
