Yesterday, Microsoft released the October monthly security patches for all supported versions of Windows. This group already excludes Windows 11 22H2 and earlier versions such as 21H2 they will not receive security updates with what it means by leaving computers vulnerable.
For those unfamiliar with Windows 11 support policies, remember that Microsoft has two lifecycles for each version of Windows: one of 24 months for Home and Pro editions, and another of 36 months for Enterprise and Education editions. You can view the lifecycle of the current versions, which in summary looks like this:
- Windows 11 21H2: Home and Pro versions: no support. Enterprise and Education versions: no support.
- Windows 11 22H2: Home and Pro versions: no support. Enterprise and Education versions: until October 14, 2025.
- Windows 11 23H2: Home and Pro versions: until November 11, 2025. Enterprise and Education versions: until November 10, 2026.
- Windows 11 24H2: Home and Pro versions: until October 14, 2025. until October 13, 2026. Enterprise and Education versions: until October 17, 2026.
If you are using Windows 11 22H2 Update!
In an era of total connectivity and malware everywhere there are computers with operating systems without the latest security patches that’s not an option. You need to update and as soon as possible.
As for the version, there is little to think about. The recent release of the stable version of Windows 11 2024 Update (Windows 11 24H2), as the biggest update of this year and the real start of the new generation of PC IA personal computers, makes us particularly recommend it.
If you are using computers with valid Windows 11 licenses, you can update (while keeping your data, apps and files) to the latest version from the operating system at Settings > Windows Update. Microsoft has also enabled its web download portal for Windows 11 2024 Update and it’s another easy way to get the new version.
Finally, if you want to take advantage of installing a version to “clean” your computer, we recommend using the “Windows 11 Installation Media” download feature media creation tool and create a bootable USB or DVD drive. Another option is to download the ISO image and create the installation media yourself.
Both options are available on the Windows 11 web portal.
