“The meeting point of young people who will build the future of Turkey”

Trendyol Group President Çağlayan Çetin said that, as one of Turkey’s leading technology companies, they are pleased to be among the stakeholders of Turkey’s leading technology festival TEKNOFEST:

As Trendyol, we are among the stakeholders of TEKNOFEST, which strengthens awareness of technology production in Turkey. This festival, the first steps of which were taken seven years ago, has now become a meeting point for young people who are going to build the future of Turkey. We believe that our country will positively distinguish itself in the technological field with the determination of TEKNOFEST and the young people participating in this event. This year we became one of the stakeholders of TEKNOFEST, which we have supported as a sponsor for the past three years, and organized the first e-commerce hackathon. Here we first explained the technologies used in e-commerce to all our participating young people and asked them to come up with new solutions that will facilitate the digitalization of local producers with these technologies. This wish coincides exactly with the goal of our Villages of Tomorrow project, which we started together with UNDP in Adana Kürkçüler Village and have spread to 5 different provinces of Turkey. We believe that technology and digital services can play a major role here. The production quality in Turkey is very high and we are doing e-export to bring this to the world markets. There are hundreds of thousands of manufacturers and sellers on the Trendyol platform. To date, we have opened 120,000 of our producers to export. Thanks to these projects, a producer from the village now receives 50 percent of his orders from abroad. At Trendyol we want to increase Turkey’s export power by investing abroad. As Turkey’s leading e-export company, we will continue to grow in a globalizing and digitalizing world.

Solutions from the hackathon will contribute to the digitalization of local manufacturers

Designed in line with the objectives of Tomorrow’s Villages, the E-Commerce Hackathon encouraged the use of open source models and architectures by producing open source solutions. Teams participating in the hackathon developed solutions that enable local manufacturers to reach international markets using NLP (Natural Language Processing), CV (Computer Vision) and multimodal technologies.

The “Villages of Tomorrow” project, implemented in collaboration with Trendyol and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), is one of the most comprehensive rural development projects in Turkey. The Digital Centers, which were first put into operation in Adana and Izmir, were later added to the project after the earthquakes in Sakarya, Diyarbakır and Kahramanmaraş, and will be opened in Hatay, with the aim of empowering local producers and gain experience in the field of smart technology. agricultural practices, value-added product development and e-commerce. In these centers, children and young people are also provided with important skills in the field of technology.
