French manufacturer Bleu Jour, specializing in mini PCs and small desktop systems, has launched the Kubb Mini, one of the smallest computers to date, in honor of its 20th anniversary. Visually, it’s a 6.8cm aluminum cube with a 10-watt Intel Celeron N5105 processor, 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM, and a 128GB solid-state drive. Unlike other mini PCs, this innovation does not have active cooling.
The Kubb Mini case is made on a CNC machine, it has slots in a specific way to dissipate heat effectively. The result is a small but highly productive computer that runs silently. The Intel Celeron N5105 processor is a quad-core / quad-core chip with a frequency of 2 GHz to 3.3 GHz and a cache of 4 MB. Intel UHD’s onboard graphics aren’t exactly suitable for gaming, but it supports basic 3D acceleration and 4K video playback.
The motherboard has a soldered 8GB LPDDR4 memory chip, while the M.2 solid state drive with SATA 3.0 interface can be replaced by removing the bottom metal plate. The front has two USB 3.0 ports, a microSD memory card slot and an LED. On the back – two more USB 3.0, 3.5 mm headphone and microphone jacks, HDMI, USB Type-C to power the device, two external Wi-Fi antennas (removable) and a start button. There is no ethernet.
The Kubb Mini is available in 200 copies, as the producer needs four hours to prepare each case. Therefore, this small computer is slightly more expensive than similar models – $ 365. Bleu Jour has promised to release another batch if this mini-computer is in high demand.
