OpenAI, developer of ChatGPT, opens an office in Brussels. The company itself announced this on X.

OpenAI chooses the Belgian capital to open a new office. This is a smart strategic move, as several European institutions have their headquarters in Brussels. Where and when the office will be built is not yet known.

Global expansion

OpenAI is experiencing a major expansion, as in addition to Brussels there will also be new offices in Paris, Seattle, New York and Singapore. OpenAI also has a second office in Asia. It would work on a GPT-4 model fully adapted to the Japanese language. The existing buildings in San Francisco, London, Dublin and Tokyo will be enlarged. Belga knows that an application process is already underway.

This expansion is probably the most logical next step after a recent investment round in which OpenAI raised $6.6 billion in fresh capital. The company’s value has risen to $157 billion. Microsoft and Nvidia were some major investors, but Apple withdrew from the financing round.

Recently, ChatGPT developer introduced Canvas, an entirely new coding interface within ChatGPT. This is intended to streamline the writing and coding tasks. Currently, Canvas is only available in beta for ChatGPT Plus and Teams users, but it proves once again that OpenAI is committed to continued growth and innovation.
