YouTube: changing the way you show ads There is a change in the videos in the Android application that caused negative comments from users, but fortunately it is not as serious as it seems.

The “skip ad” button seems to disappear from the YouTube Android app, but only for a few seconds. The company has already clarified the situation: Skip longer ads button not removed from the appit simply changed the way it worked.

If you don’t see a “Skip” button for a YouTube ad, don’t worry: you can still stop seeing the ad

YouTube is in the midst of an uphill battle against ad blockers, and they’re becoming increasingly difficult to use. Now the platform is changing the way ads are displayed in the Android app, hiding the “Skip” button in the first few seconds of ads.

Until now, when we played a video on YouTube and an ad started, we could clearly see the skip ad button and a timer: when the first 5 seconds of the ad had passed, is it possible to skip this and watch the video.

The company is changing the interface by playing ads at the beginning of videos; This may give the impression that it is no longer possible to skip the ad, as the button appears to have disappeared, as noted in a report by Android Police. , but it’s not like that: it’s still possible to skip the ad, the difference is. The button will not appear on the screen until the first five seconds have passed advertising.

In the previous images, we can see what the new interface for ads looks like. In the latest design, the “Skip” button containing the five-second timer no longer appears, instead we can only see a progress bar It will be yellow and a “Skip” button will appear after its duration is completed.

In a statement to Android Police, Google clarified the change in the interface of ads:

“For skippable ads, the button appears after 5 seconds of play as always. Users on mobile and desktop will see the countdown timer now appears as a progress bar at the bottom of the screen”.

Beyond this change, there is no doubt that YouTube has also changed the way it displays ads to users who are not YouTube Premium subscribers. For example, the company recently started experimenting with showing ads when we pause videos in the Smart TV app.
