Google Cloud has announced the launch of Gemini Code Assist Enterprise, an AI-powered software development tool. The platform provides developers with advanced code support with local codebase discovery and customization options, allowing companies to integrate their internal best practices into the development environment.

Gemini Code Assist Enterprise offers more than just AI support in the IDE. The system can analyze the local code base and make specific code suggestions based on it. This allows developers to complete tasks more quickly, such as upgrading a Java version for an entire project. This improved support allows developers to maintain their workflow and focus on creative problem solving.

An important feature of the platform is the ability to customize code. Organizations can integrate their own best practices and internal libraries so developers receive code suggestions specific to their needs. The system currently supports repositories from GitHub and GitLab, but from 2025 other sources such as local repositories will also be supported.

Wide integration with Google Cloud

Gemini Code Assist Enterprise goes beyond just use within IDEs. It integrates with multiple Google Cloud services such as Firebase, BigQuery, and Apigee. This makes developers more versatile and helps them use new technologies faster. For example, in BigQuery, the tool offers support for SQL and Python, with out-of-the-box queries and natural language interfaces for data analysis.

The security of customer data is at the heart of Gemini Code Assist’s design. The tool does not train the AI ​​model on private customer data and the stored source code remains completely under the customer’s control.

Gemini Code Assist Enterprise is available now and costs $45 per user per month, with an introductory price of $19 per month for an annual subscription.
