Google announced via a post on X that it is making its Imagen 3-based Gemini model available to everyone worldwide for free. The only requirement is that you have a Google account. Free users simply cannot use all the features. To generate images of people, they will need to upgrade to a paid subscription.
According to Google, Imagen 3 offers the highest quality image creation, with “realistic images, easy to follow instructions, and fewer distracting artifacts.” Image 3 was announced during Google’s recent I/O event. The model was initially made available via a waiting list, after which users in the US were able to try it out. Now Google is announcing that the model is available to all Google users worldwide via Gemini.
Imagen 3 is available through both the Gemini app and browser version. It is important to note that free version users cannot create images of people. This feature is only available to Gemini Advanced subscribers. This subscription is 22 euros per month.
Additionally, there has been a lot of excitement around Gemini’s feature for generating images of people. Google would create images of people that are not historically accurate. This incident dates back to February, but Google announced at the end of August that it would restore the feature.
