About a year and a month ago, in September 2023, fans of the Tomb Raider saga received with deep enthusiasm a novelty that, in the case of those of us who already had some (or a lot of) gray hair, came with a significant dose of nostalgia. I mean, of course, the announcement of the remastering of the first three titles starring the iconic Lara Croft. Three games that those of us who enjoyed them back then keep in the part of the brain where unforgettable experiences are archived.
When we finally got to see the work on this remastering, It was clear to us that we had a great job ahead of usand my experience with it after it went on sale on February 14th this year was that it wasn’t a perfect remastering, but it was a very good job that lived up to expectations and of course what these classics deserved, so remembered and also in the spotlight (in the best sense) of modders, with projects and demos like the one that showed us the effect of using path tracking in the first saga, or the highly recommended Tomb Raider Redux.
The reception of the remastering was generally very positive, which no doubt must have fueled the future plans of the companies involved in this project, who therefore decided to continue to deliver very good news. So as we can read on the official Twitter account of the franchise, Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is a reality and will go on sale on February 14, 2025. Yes indeed, just a year after the remastering of the first three titles was completed.
Continuing with the good news, this new compilation of Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is not only limited to improving the graphics part, but also also updates the controls. Those who played these titles in the original version will certainly remember the “tank” style of control, characteristic of the time. In this new edition, players will be able to opt for a much smoother and more modern experience thanks to adjustments to the control mechanics and camera movement. For purists of the saga who are trying to relive every step as they experienced it two decades ago, however, they will be able to play with the original controls, which add a welcome touch of authenticity.
As for the content, Some new features have been added to help refresh the experience. For example, boss fights, which have always been a key part of the series, will now feature a visible life bar that will allow players to adjust their strategies based on damage dealt, an interesting addition that offers more control over how battles unfold. . Additionally, for those who like to capture special moments, a new photo mode will allow you to capture Lara in action with the option to choose between different poses.
The announcement of this compilation generated quite a positive reaction among the community, which is already preparing to relive these adventures when Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered goes on sale on February 14, 2025. It will be available for PC (Steam and Epic Games), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch and as with the previous remastering, this edition is expected to once again attract both veterans of the saga and new generations of players interested in discovering the origins of one of the most iconic heroines in the world of video games.
