The company, on October 13 SpaceX It conducted a test launch of the Starship Super Heavy called Starship Flight 5. The launch took place at 8:25 a.m. EST (12:25 GMT) from the company’s Starbase facility located near Boca Chica Beach in South Texas.

Super Heavy Accelerator Starship Flight 5 He successfully separated from Starship and successfully completed engine activation. Additionally, SpaceX’s Starship Super Heavy rocket returned to the launch pad with a historic landing attempt.

This is the fifth test flight of the Starship rocket, the world’s largest and most powerful rocket with the Super Heavy booster. The main purpose of this flight was to launch Starship and re-enter the atmosphere, bringing it to the Indian Ocean. However, SpaceX also returned the first stage of Super Heavy to the launch pad and captured the booster with its Mechazilla pad design. This system is worth reducing the turnaround time of Starship launches.

SpaceX engineers spent years and months testing to prepare the booster capture attempt; and technicians have spent tens of thousands of hours creating the infrastructure to maximize our chances of success. We accept no compromises when it comes to ensuring the safety of the public and our crew, and return attempts will only be made under appropriate conditions,” SpaceX wrote in a mission review.

Fully assembled, SpaceX’s Starship and Super Heavy launch vehicles are the longest and most powerful rockets in the world. The Super Heavy first stage, which is approximately 122 meters high, is powered by 33 Raptor engines, and the Starship spacecraft is powered by six Raptor engines.

This isn’t Starship’s first test flight. SpaceX first reached space with Starship during the Flight 4 test launch on June 6, but Starship missed during reentry. Super Heavy successfully made a soft landing in the Gulf of Mexico.
