A few weeks ago, Samsung announced that almost all of the company’s products would feature a single user interface. The South Korean giant wants to start unifying the name of its software, and to do that it needs to stop being exclusive to mobile phones and tablets.
Televisions are the first of this new era, and a few days after the announcement, they begin to receive an update that marks the before and after with a name that will be familiar to many: Tizen.
Samsung has started rolling out One UI for some of its televisions, such as the S90C, one of its star offerings in 2023. This device launches One UI based on Tizen 8.0. As we predicted a few weeks ago, One UI is becoming the name Samsung gives to the systems of all its products, but the basis remains the same.
“Immerse yourself in a unique Samsung display experience with personalized content, optimized games, fitness, and seamless connectivity for a wide range of devices.”
Samsung doesn’t specify many changes in the changelist, and there are no changes beyond the jump in Tizen version. The move to unify everything under the One UI umbrella is more strategic than functional, so we shouldn’t expect a revolutionary change.
Headphones, smartwatches and other Samsung products are expected to be updated to One UI during 2025, when the software will be one of the keys for the company.
