A few days ago, during the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) 2024, the company announced that the One UI platform will be implemented on branded TVs in the future, unifying the software interface across all its devices. Now Samsung has fulfilled its promise. Samsung started rolling out the One UI update to its smart TVs starting from October 14, 2024.
Samsung plans to provide operating system updates for One UI TVs for seven years, but support for specific models is still unclear.
The update brings a new interface, a number of improvements, more features of the redesigned Game Bar and much more. The full list of innovations is quite extensive. For example, the update introduces new features such as For You, Live and Apps tabs on the home screen, the Watch Later feature, and the ability to use other devices as a keyboard and mouse. Users can track performance and exercise details in real-time on their Samsung Smart TVs directly from the Galaxy Watch.
The update also standardizes the icons for apps like Bixby, Gallery, Samsung Internet, and SmartThings to match the One UI on Samsung phones.
