The high-performance division of ASUS introduced three new power supplies of the ROG Thor III series. Among its main characteristics, we can highlight MOSFETs made of gallium nitride; GPU-FIRST voltage detection; high performance copper pins; improved PCIe connectors; engraved modular cables; ATX 3.1 compatibility and removable magnetic OLED screen.
Powering the computer is the responsibility of the power supply. It’s another one of those essential ingredients that we pay less attention to than it deserves. Spending lots of money on CPUs and GPUs looking for a few extra MHz or FPS when your brand new PC won’t even start because you’re low on power is die. And we can assure you that it will happen more times than we think.
ASUS ROG Thor III
The Taiwanese company has chosen the god of thunder (and strength) in Germanic mythology as the nom de guerre for the launch of its most powerful fountains, and has now just expanded the series with three new models, ROG Thor 1600 W Titanium III, ROG Thor 1200 W Platinum III and ROG Thor 1000 W Platinum III.
The power supplies include everything users expect from ROG’s premium division, including 80 Plus Platinum certification on the 1200 and 1000 W models and certification 80 Plus Titanium in the 1600 watt model. ASUS promises that these power supplies will deliver all the power and achieve practically maximum efficiency thanks to their capacitors.
ROG heatsinks and aluminum cases provide excellent cooling that keeps the temperature of the unit under control. And for longer life, these power supplies feature two ball bearings in the fan that last up to 80,000 hours, twice as long as cased designs. ASUS ROG Thor III includes a Turbo mode that uses all the power and uses a specific fan curve to stay at maximum load for longer when needed.
The power supplies have new voltage detection technology ASUS GPU-FIRST from the brand, allowing units to detect voltage based on the GPU instead of the CPU. Power delivery adapts faster as GPU demands change, helping to ensure stable and optimal performance. The company claims that the intelligent voltage stabilizer improves voltage delivery by up to 45% compared to a power supply without this feature.
ASUS offers ROG etched modular cablesso do-it-yourself PC builders can install only the necessary cables into their rigs to keep order and support cooling of the entire rig.
Finally, and for users who want to monitor energy consumption in real time, all these models have a Removable magnetic OLED display which can be swapped to either side of the unit to suit PSU installation preference, keeping the screen visible whether the unit is mounted with the fan on top or bottom.
Fonts ASUS ROG Thor III have 10 year warranty and of course they are ideal for building the most advanced desktops.
