Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory is preparing to start production of the new Tesla Model Y Juniper. It was reported that the factory will start test production of 12 cars per day as of October 22.
In February this year, Tesla USA announced in an email to its employees that the Tesla Model Y would not be facelifted in North America in 2024. Later, Elon Musk repeatedly denied rumors about the launch of the new Tesla Model Y on the X social network.
The new Tesla Model Y is said to have a 95 kWh battery pack, a front end similar to the Tesla Model 3 Highland, and flat taillights similar to the Tesla Cybertruck. Red trim can also be added. It is also reported that the new Tesla Model Y will be released in 2025.
Shanghai Gigafactory is Tesla’s first overseas factory, and the three millionth car rolled off the assembly line earlier this month. This factory produces a new car every 30 seconds. Export volume reached one million vehicles. As for production speed, according to Tesla, it took 32 months to produce the first million cars, and the factory went from 2 million to 3 million cars in 13 months.
