Hacker lockbit

The Internet Archive is still vulnerable to cyberattacks. Hackers have now also gained access to the software that processes incoming support tickets.

In a recent update to the website, they announced that they are fully back online with enhanced security measures. These measures were necessary after the cyber attack last week. Nevertheless, hackers gained access to Zendesk, an underlying application for replying to messages.

Second breakthrough in a short time

A staff writer for The Verge received an email from The Internet Archive in response to her Oct. 9 message. It turned out that the author was not someone from customer service, but rather one or more hackers. You obviously still have access to the underlying systems.

Several users on Reddit said they also received similar messages. These messages read as follows: “It is disheartening to see this impact assessment (Internet Archive)Even after we were notified of the breach two weeks ago, the exposed API keys are still not being rotated.”

They also mention that a Zendesk token gives them access to over 800,000 support tickets from 2018 to date. It is not clear if this is the same person who previously hacked the website.

At this time, The Internet Archive has not yet responded to this new cyberattack.
