Google is making improvements to Chrome for Android that make it easier for mobile password managers to autofill forms.

Google is rolling out a new update to Chrome on Android that will improve the use of password managers. This allows apps, including 1Password, to autofill forms on websites in Chrome. Users have already been able to set their preferred service, but Google admits in a blog that “compatibility mode” caused broken websites. Google will implement this update next month.

Automatically filled forms

A new update is coming for the mobile Chrome browser on Android. Google makes it easier to use password managers like 1Password in Chrome on Android. Previously, it was possible to set a third-party password manager as your preferred service. However, due to “Compatibility Mode”, this caused glitches in Chrome such as: B. stuttering websites.

Google says it will have fixed this issue in the next update, meaning third-party password managers will now offer a smoother experience in Chrome on Android. Google will implement this update next month. This new feature will be available starting with Chrome 131.

“With this upcoming change, Chrome on Android will enable third-party autofill services to automatically fill forms, providing users with a smoother and easier experience,” said Eiji Kitamura, Developer Advocate at Google Chrome.
