Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said he blow to the head who was injured in a fall over the weekend It was serious and that he waits several days for his medical team to assess the “damage” of the injury.
Lula said the accident was “stupid” but required attention because it involved a head. Saturday’s drop caused two small cerebral hemorrhagesand caused the cancellation of his trip to Russia to participate in the BRICS summit.
“That’s why I’m waiting because the doctors said I need to wait at least three to four days so they know how much damage the fall caused,” the president added.
The president’s personal physician, Roberto Calil Filho, said Lula should be released this week for short trips.
In an interview with GloboNews, Kalil said that the president is unlikely to suffer serious complications from the fall and that Lula will undergo routine examinations.
He added that Lula had been advised to avoid physical activity this week but could continue with his normal work routine.
Earlier on Monday Institutional Relations Minister Alexandre Padilla told reporters that Lula was doing “very well” after her head injury.
Lula, 78, shared in a post on X a photo of himself smiling next to Padilla and his top foreign policy adviser Celso Amorim during a meeting on Monday. (Reuters).
