Bloober Team has done a good half-baked job with Silent Hill 2 Remake. As a remake, it is a good game because it stays true to the essence of the original, has good graphics and an excellent environment, but technically it has things that could be greatly improved, among which stand out his poor performance and stuttering.
Low performance and stuttering are two issues that are deeply related to Unreal Engine 5 and require important optimization work so that they do not bother the players in the final version of the game. The Bloober Team didn’t finish their job well in that sense, that much is evident.
Fortunately, the Bloober Team completed this work which was “forgotten” at the time of the game’s launch and did so with a new patch that adds frame generation via NVIDIA DLSS 3 and also allows us to activate NVIDIA Reflex to compensate for the latency of said technology.

The patch updates AMD FSR technology to version 3.1.1, the option to activate has also been introduced frame generation under FSR 3.1and theoretically improved performance and reduced stuttering. If you have a Steam Deck, I also have good news that this patch has introduced specific optimizations and performance improvements for Valve’s console.
With this update some issues are also fixed an important one that affected the game both on the interface and gameplay level and on the technical level. For example, some graphical errors that occurred when using the latest version of NVIDIA DLSS were fixed, as well as some errors that prevented access to certain areas.
A fairly complete and important patch that brings much-needed improvements and optimizations that the game should have already brought at the time of its releasebut you know how it goes, the developers used to release a half-baked game, and then apply patches to it, as if they were sewing a tablecloth from scraps.
Keep in mind that while this patch reduces stuttering in Silent Hill 2 Remake, it doesn’t seem to eliminate it completely, so we’ll have to wait for another future patch. This problem is very annoying because will cause image stuttering causing the game to not run smoothly even when running at over 60fps.
