Bloodborne runs on an integrated Intel GPU and has almost zero load times

I remember one of the biggest problems Bloodborne on PS4 had was loading times. The wait that occurred when loading the game or moving from one part of the map to another was very long, which was quite logical, since this game was designed to run on the hard drive of the said console, the speed of which was only 100 MB/s .

Fortunately, the PC emulated version of Bloodborne will not have this problem. Optimizations and changes have already been made to allow the game to take advantage of powerful SSDs, and load times are confirmed to improve when running on a 7GB/s SSD They are reduced to the point where they almost don’t exist.

Just watch the attached video, barely two seconds pass to return from the game to the home screen and then we have another two seconds to reload the game. Travel time from Hunter’s Dream to another area is slightly longer at around four seconds, but it’s still a fantastic result, especially compared to the load time of the original PS4 game.

What state is the emulation in?

Well, in one phase quite advanced. The game has already seen quite a few improvements and optimizations, although it is true that there is still a lot of work ahead of us to consider it a fully finished and optimized game. Among the most important problems identified and awaiting improvement or resolution are:

  • Various graphical errors.
  • High consumption of graphics memory. It can be reduced by lowering the resolution.
  • High RAM consumption. This is important because it makes it impossible to play well with 16GB of RAM.
  • Issues with the shader compiler that can block us from loading games in certain areas.
  • Sound problems in certain areas. Some have already been resolved, such as the one that affected the fight with Father Gascoigne.

Bloodbone has been optimized enough to run on Intel GPUs

The truth is that it was one of the last successes that surprised me the most. As you can see in the attached video, the game was able to run on an old Intel integrated GPU with very little graphics memory. As expected, the performance is not good and the resolution is very low, but considering that we are talking about emulation, this is quite an achievement and confirms that it is highly scalable.

Both the original game and its Ancient Hunters DLC will continue to receive improvements and optimizations until they are perfectly polished and bug-free. This is the aim of those in charge of this project, that Bloodborne can be emulated and played perfectly on PC. As I told you then, mods have also been developed that allow you to improve its graphic quality, although they have a significant effect on performance.
