Google announces new Gemini integrations for Workspace users. Integrations with other Google applications significantly expand the capabilities of the AI assistant. For example, Google previously linked Gemini to Gmail and Drive. Now Gemini can also be found in calendars, notes and tasks.
The integration works in two directions. On the one hand, Gemini can pull information from these apps to answer your questions, but it can also take action based on your conversations. Gemini can search Google Calendar to see if you already have an appointment on a specific date or add an appointment to your calendar. If you no longer feel like going to an event, Gemini can also remove it from your schedule for you.
If you use Google Tasks, Gemini will, among other things, remind you of tasks that are about to expire. The AI assistant carefully tracks your to-do list and updates it regularly. The same goes for your notes in the Keep application.
Google is currently rolling out these new Gemini integrations for Workspace accounts. Since September 2023, when it was still called Bard, Gemini has had access to various Google applications. You must grant this permission manually. An occasional oddity might prompt Gemini to give themselves this permission, but that shouldn’t usually happen.
