AMD launched two new processors last weekend. These are Ryzen 5 5600XT and Ryzen 5 5600T. both desktop and under $200.
They are not the fastest from the company, nor the most modern, nor the ones that offer the best performance/price ratio, but we bring them here because they represent a new extension of the AM4 platform, one of the longest and best covered in years as has been the case with us since 2016. AMD promised many years of support and they certainly deliver.
What are Ryzen 5 5600XT and Ryzen 5 5600T?
Both are developments 6 cores and 12 threads native processing, with Zen3 (Vermeer) architecture and AM4 socket. A desktop solution with a TDP of 65 watts. The main difference between these two new models and their existing counterparts (Ryzen 5 5600X and Ryzen 5 5600) is the higher operating frequency at which they work by default:
- Ryzen 5 5600XT: Turbo clock 4.7 GHz – base clock 3.8 GHz.
- Ryzen 5 5600XT: Turbo clock 4.5 GHz – base clock 3.7 GHz.

Both variants are supplied with a cooler RAGE Stealtha standard AMD fan and more than enough to cool this type of CPU. The prices are not as low as we might expect (compared to the current Ryzen 5 AM4) and what we find on Amazon (US) for Ryzen 5 5600XT and Ryzen 5 5600T goes for $192 / $186 respectively. They are not, as we said, the best you can buy for the price and the Ryzen 5 5700X3D with 3D cache costs barely 19 euros more.
In any case, highlight what we said above. It should be commended that AMD continues to support the AM4 platformdespite the fact that Socket AM5 is already in its second generation CPU and in a few weeks we have news with the launch of Ryzen 9000X3D.
