Google is developing an AI model that can surf in Google Chrome. The model is named internally Project Jarvisand is said to be able to automate tasks such as shopping, research and flight booking. Google uses its own Gemini 2.0 LLM as a basis. The information knows this.

Project Jarvis will be able to read websites, interpret screenshots, press keys and enter text. Basically, the AI ​​should be able to surf the web like a human using Chrome. At this point the system would take a few seconds between different actions.

Autonomous RPA bot

In this way, Project Jarvis sounds like a kind of RPA bot for websites that can work autonomously. RPA automates repetitive actions through the UI designed for humans, while Jarvis needs to perform unique work through the UI.

Autonomous capabilities for AI are becoming increasingly important. While the focus was on the copilot story last year, major AI specialists now want to develop models that can really confidently take on certain tasks from humans. In this regard, last week Anthropic showed a new version of Claude that can work independently with a computer. Google’s ambition is relatively limited in comparison, as Project Jarvis currently only focuses on the browser.

Google itself remains sparse with details about Project Jarvis. The model is scheduled to be presented to the general public in December.
