The original USB port was kept in this project, but for obvious reasons both the optical drive and the hard drive have been removed. In this portable PS4, an SSD was used as the storage unit, a solution that is not only much faster, but also much smaller and more reliable in a system of this type.

The control system has also been perfectly integrated, even retaining the touch interface with two buttons located at each end of the top. The screen this console comes with is 7 inches, has a resolution of 1080p, which is an ideal level for porting PS4 games and has also been redesigned to meet the requirements of this project.

Among the most important modifications that the screen received, the removal of the touch interface stands out in order to reduce its thickness. It was also necessary replace the HDMI connector on the console with mini-HDMI. All components were mounted on a rather thick chassis with a rectangular design, which is certainly not very aesthetic, but performs its function without a problem.

The first prototype had serious design problems, but these were solved by modifying the materials to prevent chemical reactions between the ABS plastic and the adhesive used for the fixing screws. Also Reinforced internal shield against heatthe latter solved some graphical errors that the first prototype showed.

The final version of this portable PS4 is fully functional and natively moves games downloaded in digital format, but it generates a lot of heat so it cannot be used when connected to the mains. We also have to take into account that its battery is 100 Wh, so it is not possible to take it on a trip if we are going to fly by plane.

Just for fun, we saw a rumor a while back that said that Sony could be working on a portable PS4. This information has not been confirmed, but it is clear that the modding world has moved on from the Japanese company.
