Xiaomi introduced a number of new features this afternoon. Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro were officially introduced along with Xiaomi Pad 7, Pad 7 Pro and the new Xiaomi Watch S4. All of these products have a common denominator: They will come with HyperOS 2, the second version of the brand’s own ROM.
It comes with significant new features, some of which are exclusive to the Chinese market and some of which are related to global versions. HyperOS wants to bid farewell to the ghosts of MIUI with a clear focus on optimization, artificial intelligence and interoperability with other systems such as iOS.
A much more optimized system. HyperOS 2 is a system that is still based on Android but promises to be more optimized than ever before. The way graphics are handled, task management, memory allocation… have been redesigned.
The idea is that the CPU, GPU, and NPU work together in the different areas the phone needs to render, from the simplest animation to running a ray-traced game.
At the energy efficiency level, the system allocates resources to dynamically adapt to the demands of system applications and processes, so it should be a less demanding system.
Artificial Intelligence is everywhere. Artificial intelligence is a key pillar of HyperOS 2. Similar to Gemini, we will be able to generate funds through artificial intelligence, write messages, emails, translations in real time and analyze the content of the screen using our own assistant.
Problem? The barrier between what will and won’t come to Europe is quite blurry, and as we’ve seen, many of the productive AI functions are strong candidates for functions that won’t eventually leave China. Since artificial intelligence is the mainstay of the system, it seems clear that some functions will come to Europe, but as with Apple Intelligence, it is not clear which ones or how.
Better interaction with Apple. One of the biggest new features of HyperOS 2 is better interoperability with Apple. With this version, Xiaomi mobile phones will be able to better understand each other with iPhone, Mac and iPad, thanks to the update made to HyperConnect.
Specifically, we can send – mirror – the screen of our Xiaomi to a Mac – this is the first phone that natively allows us to understand each other very well with Apple devices, although an application is required in MacOS.
HyperOS’s European roadmap is not yet official, but distribution in its home country will begin next month.
