Google uses AI to generate more than a quarter of its new code.

It’s been clear for some time that Google is incorporating AI into its product offering. The company recently launched custom chatbots (Gems) powered by Gemini. Google would also actively use AI internally. In a blog post, director Sundar Pichai writes that Google uses AI to generate more than a quarter of its new code. This code is then reviewed and accepted by engineers. They say this helps employees get more done.

Google offers many AI services, but also uses AI itself to build AI products. The company makes no secret of this. “We also use AI internally to improve our coding processes, which increases productivity and efficiency. Today, more than a quarter of all new code at Google is generated by AI and then reviewed and accepted by engineers. This helps our engineers do more and move faster,” Pichai said in a blog post.

In the same blog, Google quotes the quarterly figures. The parent company Alphabet reported sales of around 88 billion for the third quarter. This comes with Google Cloud revenue of $11.4 billion, an increase of 35 percent over the previous year.

Despite the promising numbers, Google is currently in difficult waters. Google has been accused of unlawfully establishing a monopoly in the search market, which could lead to the company being broken up.
