A quarter of Google’s code was written by artificial intelligence, not humans

During Google’s latest quarterly conference call, Sundar Picha, the tech giant’s chief executive, boasted that most of the new code was written by artificial intelligence. Sundar Pichai noted that at least 25 percent of Google’s code is created by artificial intelligence, but of course there is a problem.

According to Pichai, this code is reviewed and accepted by engineers, which helps them do more work in less time. While it may seem optimistic, AI often introduces bugs into the code, violates copyrights, and even causes crashes in some cases. When these situations arise, programmers must manually fix problems created by AI.

All of this begs the question: wouldn’t it be faster and less tedious to let programmers do their work from scratch?
