The portable console segment is still very much alive and just yesterday we introduced the AYANEO 3. Today we have another interesting announcement, the ONEXFLY F1 Pro from another major Chinese handheld game machine manufacturer.
A year and a half ago, we introduced ONEXFLY to you as “another portable console to compete with the Steam Deck”. At least a dozen new models have been released since then, but the headline still stands: Valve’s machine is a reference, even if it doesn’t have the most up-to-date hardware.
ONEXFLY F1 Pro is not just an update of the original version, It is a completely new second generationwhile maintaining the basic design with the location of controls and trigger, Harman Kardon tuned stereo speakers and dual microphones, custom RGB lighting under the joysticks and in the corners, in addition to USB Type-C and Type-A ports for charging and data.
We see the big news in the two main hardware components of any machine, the screen and the SoC. The display will have a diagonal of 7 inches, it will use an OLED panel and will have a refresh rate 144 Hz. Enough to stand out in such a competitive market and a huge improvement over the original LCD.
Another big news about the ONEXFLY F1 Pro is its processor. And not just anyone, because it’s a Ryzen AI 9 HX 370from AMD’s latest ‘Strix Point’ generation. The SoC features integrated Radeon 890M graphics with a 16-core RDNA 3.5 GPU, which should give it a nice performance boost compared to most existing handheld gaming machines.
We expect it to have several memory and storage options like the original version, up to 64 GB of RAM and an SSD with a capacity of up to 4 Tbytes. No exact information was given about his weight, but It should not exceed 600 grams with a battery that should have a larger capacity than the 48 Wh of the original to withstand the increased consumption of the screen and SoC.
The prices have been provided to us and we fear they won’t be economical with that OLED and one of the best SoCs to be fitted to a portable console. We updated already at launch.
