Apple today announced financial results for its fourth fiscal quarter of 2024, which falls in the third calendar quarter of the year.

Apple reported revenue of $94.9 billion for the quarter and quarterly net income of $14.7 billion, or $0.97 per share. In last year’s quarter, that figure was $89.5 billion, with quarterly net income of $23.0 billion, or $1.46 per share. .

While revenue rose 6 percent from the previous year, Apple’s profitability took a hard hit due to a one-time $10.2 billion charge due to tax issues in the European Union. Without this one-time charge, Apple’s earnings would have been $1.64 per share, up 12 percent from last year.

Gross margin for the quarter was 46.2 percent, compared to 45.2 percent in the same quarter a year ago. Apple also announced that a quarterly dividend of $0.25 per share will be paid on November 14 to shareholders of record as of November 11.

For the full fiscal year, Apple had sales of $391.0 billion and net income of $93.7 billion, compared to sales of $383.3 billion and net income of $97.0 billion in fiscal 2023.

“Apple today reported a new record September quarter revenue of $94.9 billion, up 6 percent from the prior year,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “During the quarter, we were excited to announce some of our best products, including the all-new iPhone 16 series, Apple Watch Series 10, AirPods 4, as well as great features for hearing health and sleep apnea detection. “And this week, we released our first feature set for Apple Intelligence, setting a new standard for privacy in AI and completing our lineup ahead of the holiday season.”

As it has for more than four years, Apple is again not issuing guidance for the quarter ending in December.
