It is impossible to write about what has happened these days in the autonomous communities of Andalusia, Castilla la Mancha and Valencia without giving you goosebumps or even a lump in your throat. The fury of nature, its animosity when it shows its brute force, has shown us once again our fragility in the face of a set of forces that, when unleashed, can change absolutely everything in a matter of seconds. And in this case, unfortunately, I know exactly what I’m talking about, because a flood left me homeless when I was a teenager in the late 1980s. I see all these images these days and it’s impossible not to remember that my family and I lost everything but our lives in just a matter of seconds.
I will not enter into a discussion of political responsibility, as this is not the place. What I want is focus on mobilizing citizenshow many, many people tried to help the victims from the first moment. Yesterday afternoon, Ana (my partner, the one with the music list) was showing me social media posts of events of this type, and as it couldn’t be otherwise, it was another reminder that human beings can be amazing when she suggests it. .
Social networks, as is common in this type of circumstance, were one of the main communication targets of thousands of initiatives implemented by people of all kinds who in one way or another try to contribute what they can to the victims. And no, I’m not going to speak in “grains of sand” terms, because I think they deserve a much higher award. And in this sense Without distracting from the rest, here and now I want to highlight the map “SOS VALÈNCIA – MISSING”.
I’VE CREATED AN OPEN LINK MAP SO EVERYONE CAN EDIT, ADD POINTS AND DESCRIPTION OF STUCK PEOPLE: https://t.co/seMOkpssMd ENTER, ADD DATA AND DELETE AFTER SOLVED #Valencia #FLOOD #AEMET #TURIA #ALFAFAR #SOSVALENCE MOOD, STRENGTH.

Created by Twitter user Alexandru Molina and based on Google Maps, SOS VALÈNCIA – MISSING PEOPLE is currently collecting information about missing peopleand its great success is that it is an open map, so any user can add information to it. In this way, and although Molina had to give some hints because some users made some mistakes, the volume of information and its countless usefulness in the search for missing persons make this map a key tool not only for the rescue services, but also for all those volunteers who also they work together to search for the missing.
I insist again that this is just one of many actions carried out by anonymous citizens who, in the face of the tragedy that Valencia is experiencing, have decided to act by doing everything in their power. As a general rule, I usually don’t recommend using social media, much less Twitter, but without a doubt this is an exceptional casea time when much of what we can do is concentrated there.
