More and more a wide family of digital assistants currently available, we are now starting to add Rufus. And of course, in this age of the constant emergence of AI-based products and services, digital assistants are a field where the possibilities are incredibly wide, because the intelligence of assistants is of course a key element of their usefulness. for their users.
At this point, yes, we need to make an important distinction, that on the one hand we have general purpose chatbots such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Alexa, among others, and specialized on the otherthat have been designed for a specific purpose, such as those listed recently that are dedicated exclusively to the creation and review of programming code, such as the one that debuted in July 2022 on GitHub and Amazon CodeWhisperer, renamed a few months ago as Q Developer.
In this case, as we already told you during the official announcement last February, Rufus belongs to this latter groupthat is, the assistants specialized in a specific task, which in this case is nothing more than helping users who want to buy or learn about a product that is available on its gigantic trading platform. At that time, at the beginning of the year, the feature was launched for a small selection of Amazon users in the United States, since last September it became available for the entire market.
Now, less than two months later, we have news Rufus has already started his landing on Amazon in Spainalthough for now only for a small group of users who will be able to use this assistant through a smartphone application. They will be able to find a new icon on the right side of the bar shown at the bottom of the interface, and when pressed, the Rufus interface will open, where you can enter your question, either in writing or by voice.
A particularly interesting aspect of Rufus is that it not only has product catalog information, but and general information thus allowing us to search and compare products based on our needs, such as the most suitable type of product for a specific purpose. However, we must remember that we are still dealing with an initial version of the assistant, so it is best, if you already have access to it, to take its answers with some reservations and, if possible, confirm them with other sources.
