Lviv has been chosen as the first testing ground for Ukraine’s 5G network, and plans are also underway to expand the network to Kiev and Odesa if the tests are successful and do not affect military operations, Channel 24 reported, citing the EP.

This information was shared by several telecommunications industry insiders shortly after the recent announcement that the testing phase of the 5G network had begun.

According to telecommunications expert Roman Khimich, the tests involve the deployment of the 5G network at various base stations in Lviv, and not throughout the city.

The rollout of the network starts with individual locations, so users will be able to connect to the 5G network in test locations.

Although this first phase is focused on specific areas of the city, it is an important step in expanding 5G capabilities across Ukraine.

As the project is still in its pilot phase, the timing of full deployment remains uncertain, with a cautious approach to avoid interfering with military operations. If the test in Lviv goes smoothly, the project is planned to be expanded to other important cities, especially Kiev and Odessa.
