iPhone 17, possible specifications, design, price and release date

Apple is already working on the iPhone 17, the next update of its famous smartphone, the launch of which is planned for 2025. There is still some time left before this new terminal hits the market, but thanks to the numerous leaks and rumors that are coming out, we already have a lot of information about it, and I decided to compile it in this article.

The truth is that the same thing is happening with the iPhone 16 at the time. Leaks are happening from a very early stage, and this is interesting because in the case of the current model, almost all rumors and early leaks ended up fulfilled. This means that it is very likely that the same will happen with the iPhone 17 and that many of these rumors will end up being true.

As always, I have selected only information and rumors about the iPhone 17 that have a high level of reliability, and therefore have many possibilities to fulfill. Keep in mind that this does not mean that we can consider these as confirmed information, they are simply rumors with a good credibility index for a smartphone that has not yet been officially announced.

iPhone 17 models and design: continuity, titanium and surprise

iPhone 17

We expect Apple to introduce a total of four models of the iPhone 17. Of them three will proceed in the same way that we have seen in the current generation, and the fourth will be a completely new model that could bring very important changes at the design level. I’m talking about what we currently know as the iPhone 17 Air.

The iPhone 17 Air appeared as a possible replacement for the iPhone 17 Plus, but in more recent information I saw that Apple could simply do without the said terminal due to its low sales and that the iPhone 17 Air would not be a real replacement. , but rather an attempt to open a new market with premium smartphone it puts everything at stake in the design.

This new smartphone will have hardware specifications lower than iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Maxbut its screen will be much larger than the standard model, with which it could share the rest of the specifications. Its chassis will be made of aluminum and will have an ultra-thin finish. This will be the only one with important changes at the design level.

The Pro and Pro Max models will be repeated glass finish They will again have a flat chassis at the back and will have an all-screen design with smaller bezels. The dynamic island will be present again, but will be smaller thanks to the use of new hardware in the Face ID interface, which is responsible for the 3D facial recognition that Apple offers in its terminals.

Both the arrangement of the cameras and the rest of the basic elements at the design level They will not see fundamental changes in this new generation of smartphones and it is expected that the same screen sizes will be maintained, which means that the iPhone 17 will have a 6.1-inch panel and the Pro and Pro Max models will have a diagonal of 6.3 and 6.9 inches. , while the Air model would be 6.6 inches.

In short, complete continuity except for the Air model, whose design is still a real mystery, save for the details I mentioned. Apple still did not acknowledge this terminalso all the information surrounding it continues to raise a lot of doubts and therefore we have to take it with a grain of salt.

Hardware level keys and possible specifications

SoC A19

Apple maintained the strategy quite conservative when it comes to refreshing the hardware of its flagship product, adopting small changes that have rarely served to justify a direct jump from one generation to the next, and it seems that the 2025 series will be no exception to this rule.

The SoC change will again be one of the most important improvements in the next generation of Apple smartphones. The apple company is expected to use the new Apple A19 SoC on the standard iPhone 17 and Air and that the Pro and Pro Max models have A19 Pro SoC.

This SoC differentiation is not accidental. The Apple A19 Pro will be a more powerful chip than the A19, although both will be manufactured in TSMC 3nm node. I don’t have full information about its CPU and GPU configuration yet, but I’m pretty sure it will deploy a six-core processor (two high-performance and four high-efficiency) and Apple’s own GPU with 5-6 graphics cores.

This SoC will also have a more powerful NPU. This component is very important for working with workloads focused on artificial intelligence and for being able to move smoothly the features included in Apple Intelligence. The NPU SoC A18 Pro has a performance of 35 TOP, so it is logical to think that the NPU SoC A19 Pro will perform higher than 50 TOP.

RAM is another of the most important topics when we talk about smartphone specifications. All iPhone 16s have 8GB of RAM, the same amount as the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, so I think Apple will probably keep 8GB of RAM on the standard iPhone 17 and Air and increase that amount 12 GB on Pro and Pro Max models. It’s also possible that this RAM boost is limited to the Pro Max model.

The new 2025 iPhones will of course have Wi-Fi 7 support, and it’s rumored that the Air model could be the first Apple 5G modem. Apple has been working on a solution of this type for its iPhone for some time, but has never implemented it, so this is one of its big pending bills.

We do not expect any changes in the size of available storage which should start from 128 GB in basic configurations of these new smartphones. In the standard and Air model it should reach a maximum of 512 GB and in the Pro and Pro Max 1 TB. There won’t be any big changes in battery capacity either, although they will be easier to change.

In terms of cameras, all iPhone 17s are expected to have a 24MP front-facing camera, which will be a major upgrade over the current generation’s 12MP camera. On the back we will see a 48 MP lens as the main and 48 MP wide angle in the standard model and will also have Pro and Pro Max models another 48 MP camera functioning as a telephoto lens. The Air model is said to have only a 48MP camera.

I’m going to tidy up a little bit of everything I’ve just told you, so I’ve prepared a series of full summaries with possible specifications iPhone 17 in four models that could hit the market.

Release date and price, will they be more expensive?

Apple is about to introduce the iPhone 17 in September 2025probably in the first half of the said month. Its launch will take place one to two weeks after said presentation, so if, for example, Apple makes an announcement in the first week of September, it will launch between the second and third week of the same month.

As for the price, there are three options. The former would be best for consumers, but it’s also the least likely that Apple will launch its new smartphones at a lower price than current models. As I said, I don’t think that will happen, so let’s go straight to the second possibility that the price of these is same as the current generation.

The third option, in my opinion, is the most feasible and implies that Apple could launch its new terminals on the market at a higher price than the current generation. In this case it would be the most logical an increase of 50 to 100 eurosdepending on the specific model and the increase in production costs that Apple must anticipate.

This is what the final prices of this new generation of terminals could look like:

  • iPhone 17: 959 euros if Apple doesn’t raise the price of the current generation, 1,009 euros if it applies a 50 euro increase.
  • iPhone 17 Plus: In theory, there will be no Plus model in this generation.
  • iPhone 17 Pro: €1,219 if there is no price increase, €1,269 if there is a €50 increase.
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: €1,469 (base 256GB) if there is no price increase, €1,519 if there is a €50 increase.

I separated the iPhone 17 Air because it will be a brand new model and therefore would have no reference in the current generation. Its price is rumored to be around $1,199, which at the exchange rate in euros and after taxes is 1,331 euros, which They could be rounded up to 1,339 euros.
