Fortinet introduces FortiDLP, a new AI-powered data protection and insider risk management solution. DLP stands for Data loss prevention. The solution provides organizations with an integrated approach to preventing intentional and accidental data loss across the cloud, applications and across devices.
FortiDLP complements Fortinet’s existing DLP capabilities and, like all of the company’s solutions, is part of the Fortinet Security Fabric. By integrating with Next DLP’s cloud-native platform, FortiDLP can secure data and detect insider risks.
Through preset policies and machine learning, organizations gain automated traffic visibility and protection, creating a foundation for normal behavior. This helps detect abnormal behavior.
In addition, FortiDLP provides protection against insider risks by analyzing employee actions and behavior patterns. Based on this information, the solution can block risky actions, such as attempts to transmit sensitive data to unauthorized channels. In other words, if an employee who never transfers data wants to copy five terabytes of data from an internal server to an external drive shortly before the end of their contract, alarm bells will ring.
FortiDLP provides visibility into employee interactions with SaaS applications. The solution monitors the data transfer between the cloud and endpoints and assigns a risk score to all SaaS solutions used. This helps companies gain insight into traffic and identify potential risks.
With insights into the use of unauthorized applications, FortiDLP enables companies to ensure data security so employees can continue to use tools like ChatGPT safely.
According to Fortinet, FortiDLP also protects data based on its origin through the Secure Data Flow feature, which provides control over outbound traffic and the use of external storage media such as USB sticks.

Additionally, FortiDLP offers an AI assistant that analyzes risky activities and makes recommendations based on MITER Engenuity’s knowledge base, giving security teams faster insight into potential threats.
