Mozilla has lost respect for Firefox

[Opinión] Mozilla is still immersed in its movement of identity in which Ideology prevails over technology And while supporting minorities in need is the right thing to do, if done honestly, I’d like to see the same effort put in pulling Firefox out of the hole into which it was put.

No dear readers, this is not an attack on Firefox. In any case, it would be an attack on Mozilla, although I personally do not share the simplistic criticism by classifying it as an attack. It’s not. However, many will take it, which is one thing for me, because I will continue to do so when I think it is appropriate.

It happens that you enter the Mozilla site with the expectation that you will find something new about its products, read Firefox and come across an article that talks about how The queer singer and songwriter finds pride and joy at the intersection of technology and musicother dealing redefine love and identity

I have nothing against this content, although I have the impression that Mozilla moves like a weather vane where the wind blows, and for society, not for the foundation, they are reduced to net marketing to look more devoted than them with the cause and try to attract users in this way. But it doesn’t work for them.

That’s why it makes me nervous to find other content, which fortunately also exists, so neglected that it immediately rejects me. The laziness they treat with their true value – which has never been activism – is shown by articles like this, in which they explain something as basic as configuring Firefox as the default browser on Windows.

Mozilla Firefox

Firefox in Windows 7. Very current references

What’s wrong with such an article? Which is not recent, but since 2020, repetition without the slightest regard for your product, Firefox or user. Firstly, for not displaying the new Firefox image, which is not the same as in 2020, and secondly, for not taking the opportunity to focus on the tutorial on Windows 11.

This is not the only example. The day after, they published another tutorial explaining how to easily switch from Chrome to Firefox, which also looks like a remake from a long time ago, although this one doesn’t explain it. But just look at the MacOS Catalina and Windows 7 screenshots to make sure. Was it so hard to update those articles with minimal effort?

There are those who find this to be a trivial matter and even an unimportant detail, but it makes me feel that Mozilla makes sense elsewhere, which is not to improve Firefox to stay competitive with Chromium and its derivatives. The problem of losing focus, which the company has been dragging for years.

And for the record, Firefox, while behind virtually everything behind Chromium and Co., works very well. It is not a browser that is maintained only for what it is supposed to represent, free internet and other nonsense (what anyone wants to believe); or whatever it was, a free alternative that stood up to Internet Explorer and its horrors.

No way: firefox works great.

In terms of multimedia performance or support, Chrome may not have achieved that abandoning core features such as web apps has reduced its followers, or continuing to waste Mozilla administration – not to say that the leadership of the alleged non-profit foundation, which works for the good of humanity, gathers millions and fires its employees in batches – distracting from what has been achieved with Firefox.

All of this may have played a role in the crash of Firefox, and I actually think so. Like the ubiquity of Google – the company that keeps Mozilla alive to be exact – and its Chrome even in soup, which certainly played a more prominent role in the sinking process whenever possible. And with everything Firefox is an excellent browser with its stuff

Then? If Firefox is an excellent browser, does that mean Mozilla didn’t do too badly? Apparently. Mozilla did a lot of things very badly, but not everything and not always. It seems a bit pathetic to me that I have to show it explicitly, because even for these reasons, there is no one who would try to understand it, but there will be no money for trying.

What I’m not surprised is what it would look like if Mozilla did everything on average, without the huge ups and downs they have suffered. And as for the subject of the cultural story, what has been said: it is not a question of underestimating it because of it. It does not make any sence. It’s as if in MC we dedicate ourselves to condemning the inequalities of the world. Undoubtedly, that would be commendable, but we would not be a technological medium.

Mozilla Firefox

From its peak to the present: it was the decline of Firefox

Lest we repeat what has been mentioned: they do not deceive anyone and the smell of opportunism is felt from a distance. That’s why I’d like them to focus more on technology – with a few exceptions – progressive versions of Firefox are compared to what the competition offers, like a ghost that goes without punishment and fame – than on ideology, because if Mozilla wants to change or help something. change, it will be based on technology, not ideology.

In fact, one is not incompatible with the other. All the big American companies have jumped on the bandwagon of defending civil rights and have not neglected to take care of their products and services, which are, after all, the basis of their business. Eye, an angry fan of Mozilla and Firefox or Mozilla Firefox, so much: I could compile a list of hardly justifiable nonsense. Maybe one day I will.

Because the outbursts they give me are not out of hatred for Mozilla, although I think thoroughly clearing her leadership would be the best thing that could happen to the project. These explosions are sorry for firefox. And to make matters worse, the next thing you write about the browser will be positive. I promise.
