At Sunday’s session, the Verkhovna Rada supported a bill allowing Ukraine to withdraw from the agreement on joint development of mobile communications with the CIS countries.

As Ukrinform reported, this was reported in Telegram by the State Special Communications Service.

“The deputies supported the termination of the agreement on cooperation between the CIS member states in the development of mobile communications for Ukraine,” said the State Special Communications Service.

This agreement, on the one hand, has not been filled with real content since the day it was signed, on the other hand, it provides the approximation of the CIS legislation in this field to uniform standards.

“This does not correspond to the European integration route of our state and contradicts the commitments made to bring national legislation closer to the legislation of the European Union. Head of the State Special Service Yuri Shchigol, if necessary, cooperation with the parties to the terminated agreement, bilateral and multilateral, such as that carried out within a specialized UN agency – the International Telecommunication Union. can be achieved at the level of agreements,” he said. .

As reported, more than 3,000 mobile operator base stations in Ukraine were completely or partially shut down, and more than 20% of telecommunications infrastructure was damaged or destroyed as a result of the Russian Federation’s military offensive against Ukraine.
