A White House statement said Biden demonstrated his commitment to “a peaceful transition and emphasized the importance of working together to unite the country” by inviting him to a meeting at the White House.

Biden earlier called Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris to also congratulate her on her “historic campaign,” and his office noted the president would address the nation on Thursday to talk about the election and transition.

Harris conceded her defeat in a phone call with the Republican tycoon and congratulated him on his victory.

The vice president plans to travel to Howard University this Wednesday afternoon to comment on the results.

His appearance was scheduled for Tuesday, at the end of Election Day, but was postponed on the grounds that the vote count was not yet completed.

By then, Harris’ disadvantage to Trump had become obvious, and the crowd at the university center in northwest Washington where she studied had largely abandoned him.

According to media forecasts cnn or NBCNewsAnd while waiting for vote counts to become known in the key states of Nevada and Arizona, Trump has already won 292 of the 270 Electoral College delegates needed to declare himself the winner, compared with 224 for Harris. (EFE)
