There was a time when signing a contract with just one or two streaming services was enough to get access to as much content as possible. It wasn’t exactly like that, but it felt like it was. Netflix, Spotify and perhaps some operators having their own services seemed sufficient for watching and listening. almost All. today we feel Since you are overwhelmed by so many different services, it is not profitable to pay for all of them.
The problem is not only that there are so many streaming services available, but they have also increased their prices in the last few years and many of them have taken steps to prevent us from sharing the account. After years of paying for at least five services, I decided to cancel my subscription from the majorityI even canceled my Spotify subscription. YouTube Premium is one of the very few subscriptions I’ll continue paying for, and I have good reasons to do so.
The subscription that pays me the most is YouTube Premium, and for good reason: music
With so many services available, there are so many movies, TV series, and shows to watch. It is not possible to see everythingat least not at the same time, so the most logical thing for me (and many others) is to pay for only one or two services at a time, if we want to save money, to enjoy the series or movies we want to watch. For example, when the new season of a TV series we love comes out, we switch to the next one.
But in my case this does not apply to YouTube Premium, first of all we watch a lot of videos at home and we like not having to watch ads, we also benefit from other functions such as downloading videos to watch offline. But the most important reason why I stuck with this decision lies in the music: YouTube Music is an excellent music platformSo much so that I said goodbye to Spotify and I’m staying with Google.
Many people don’t seem to know this, but a YouTube Premium subscription also gives you access to YouTube Music. without paying moreand it’s a service that can do everything other music platforms do and even more.
You can find the music catalog of all my favorite artists and more on YouTube Music. You have your albums, songs, we can create playlists and share them with our friends, even download music for offline listening, just like on Spotify.
But the biggest advantage YouTube Music has as a music service is Their catalog also draws directly from YouTube videos. This allows us to do something that no other platform can do: we can listen to unavailable concerts such as official live albums, remixes, unofficial performances, and new artists whose works are not yet available on other platforms.
Basically, the catalog available on YouTube Music is the largest compared to other music streaming services as it is based on the YouTube library. If a song is available on video, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to listen to it via YouTube Music. and even download to listen offline. I say it’s very likely because I’ve found some videos that don’t let me select “song mode” but they’re the minority.
The YouTube Music app is quite complete and even has functions like creating AI covers for our playlists. But its greatest potential and appeal lies in its extensive catalogue. If I had to stick to just one music service, my choice was obvious.
Therefore, the most important advantage for me when purchasing YouTube Premium is not in the video platform but in the music. Even though the service increased its price again, it is still paying my compensation; I hope they don’t re-upload it because with every increase it gets harder and harder to justify my subscription.
