Instagram is eliminating the most hated flaw that has been plaguing us all for years

Detail

Now when you open Instagram, it will wait for you to scroll the page before refreshing and showing new content on tape. Previously, if you did not close the program, but turned it off for a while, you could open it, see the content you were interested in, and after a second lose a photo or video, since the page was quickly updated. 24 Channel reports using Gizmodo as a reference.

Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, says that this algorithm involving the app’s actions is called “rug dragging” within the company and that it is not a bug but an intentional feature. Here is a somewhat strange explanation:

We’re trying to upload new content and it’s taking a while, so we’re showing you what’s already uploaded; this is generally good for user interaction.
– says Mosseri.

Luckily, the company’s CEO has acknowledged that this behavior is “very annoying,” so Instagram will stop doing this and will now wait for you to start scrolling through your feed before updating. It’s a small change that will make a lot of people very happy.

What other new features have been added to Instagram:

  • In September, the app introduced the ability to comment on Stories. You can write public comments to other users instead of sending them via private message. The function can be disabled in the settings.
  • Later that month, parent-controlled teen accounts will become mandatory for children under 16. Parents can see who their children are talking to and manage their privacy settings.
  • In October, Instagram introduced profile cards to help users find new friends.
  • Two days later, new features were announced to prevent scams targeting young people.
  • The very next day, they launched a new feature that lets you add songs from Instagram posts directly to your Spotify.
