Signal wants to make its calls more attractive and is innovating to better compete with Zoom and Google Meet.
Signal, a privacy-focused messaging app, has introduced a new feature: Call Links. This makes it easy to invite people to a group conversation. Previously, users had to create a group chat before starting a conversation. However, with call links this is no longer necessary.
Stay up to date with the competition
Users can create links from the tab Call to actionname the link and determine whether approval is required before someone joins. Call links support up to 50 participants and can be reused. This is useful for work meetings.
Signal has also added new features like raising hands and emoji reactions during calls, similar to Zoom and Google Meet. These tools provide quick ways to provide feedback and improve interaction during conversations. There is also a new tab Call to action on the home screen to view call history at a glance.
In the desktop app, users can now switch between Grid, Sidebar, and Speaker views. Additionally, call controls have been improved, providing easy access to camera, microphone and speaker settings.
All of these updates are available in the latest Signal versions for Android, iOS and desktop.
