MicrosofT Makes Windows 11 version 24H2 available on multiple devices after removing two upgrade blocks. This affects the issue with the fingerprint sensor and the Voicemeeter app.

Since the rollout of Windows 11 24H2, many problems have arisen with the new update. Recently, the Alt + Tab keyboard shortcut caused a black screen or an error left users with 9GB of undeletable files. Microsoft has now lifted two upgrade bans that affected several PCs, reports Windows Latest.

This means that Windows 11 24H2 is now available for more PCs. This includes PCs with a specific type of fingerprint sensor and other PCs with the Voicemeeter app. The upgrade blocks have been removed, but that doesn’t mean the problems have disappeared.

Fingerprint sensor

The new Windows 11 24H2 update has been available on various PCs since October 1st. Since then, there have been numerous reports of problems ranging from black to blue screens, files that cannot be deleted, and taskbars that stutter. And the list goes on and on.

According to Windows Latest, Microsoft has now fixed two problems. One issue affects devices that have experienced issues with fingerprint sensors. This meant that users could no longer lock their PCs and Windows Hello fingerprinting did not work.

With Windows 11 KB5044284, Microsoft said the fingerprint issue was fixed. After testing the patch for a month, Microsoft confirmed that the upgrade lock on PCs with fingerprint sensors has been lifted.

Voicemeeter app

In addition to the fingerprint sensor issue, Windows Latest also discovered that Microsoft has lifted the update lock on devices running Voicemeeter audio software. After the launch of Windows 11 version 24H2, users suddenly started seeing blue screen errors while using Voicemeeter. Microsoft therefore imposed a security freeze that blocked Windows 11 24/7 for devices with the Voicemeeter app.

A new update for Voicemeeter (1.1.1.8, 2.1.1.8 or 3.1.1.8) is now available and no longer causes problems with Windows 11 version 24H2. This upgrade lock was lifted on November 5th.
